Resting Well

Take time this weekend to rest. It’s vital. You cannot be as healthy as you were genetically designed to be without appropriate rest.

Please note that I am not saying “sleep”. Sleep and rest can be, and often are, two different things. You can sleep, but not enter the deepest levels of rest where true repair occurs. And this is important to realize because it explains why someone can sleep a long time but still feel tired and run down. The whole reason we even feel “sleepy”, is that the guy who did the wiring on us made it so that we would have that sensation to let us know it’s time to power down, so that the body can have a chance to repair and recover from the abuse it has been through for 16 or so hours of living that we have put it through. Innate intelligence is really cool that way!

Innate intelligence is also why you feel like sleeping so much more when you happen to get sick. It realizes that you need extra rest to fight off the bug that has invaded your body. It helps to bolster your immune function so you can win that battle. Thus the opposite (not resting well) creates immune deficiency in your body.

So take time this weekend to rest, really rest. Your body needs it, and it’s part of the 4 pronged approach to wellness I teach: Eat well, move well, think well and rest well.

So this weekend, remember the 4 “R’s”: Rest, relax, renew and re-YOU!

Another Miracle Weight Loss Product

So a friend sends me a link on Facebook about a report from the TV show “The Doctors” talking about a supplement that can burn belly fat and help you lose weight without doing anything different. He asks my opinion. Yes I am more than willing to voice my opinion on ANY product that is promoted to lose weight, and I quickly obliged my friend.

Stop. JUST STOP!!! Stop with this nonsense of the latest and greatest pill/supplement/surgery etc. This mentality is killing America. The problem is not that we have a deficiency in weight loss products in our body, the problem is we have chosen to be lazy, mentally, and physically. We have chosen to think that for every ill there is a pill.

We have chosen to live incongruently with the way we are wired to live. We are wired to eat real food. We are wired to move regularly. We are wired to have great social lives (not social media lives). We are wired to get well rested daily, and to take time to renew and rejuvenate ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Yet we continue to choose differently, and thus we are the least healthy country in the developed world.

There is no supplement or drug that will take the place of nutritious meals. You may lose weight, but you will be unhealthy still. Skinny does NOT equal healthy. This thought process kills. It drives people to think less of themselves because they don’t feel as skinny as others. It drives people to stress because they are not as skinny as the next person. It drives people to eating disorders and yes death. So just STOP IT. NOW.

If you lose weight taking a supplement, ask yourself are you planning on taking that supplement for the rest of your life? Seriously? Because when you don’t take it, you WILL gain the weight back, and maybe even more.

There is no drug or supplement, nor is there any surgery that can take the place of living in congruence with our genes, which require us to eat, move, think and rest appropriately.

Shame on “The Doctors” for promoting a product that leads to ill health and death.
